History
The Maharashtra NGO Samiti was established on 1 August 2014 to guide and assist non-governmental organizations, funding agencies, social workers, community-based organizations and corporate bodies in the field of social development and welfare. There was a need to promote social development at the national and international levels. With this vision, the Maharashtra NGO Samiti was established to collaborate with government agencies, non-governmental organizations and rural organizations such as the private sector at the state, national and international levels to formulate a plan for mobilizing resources and implementing social development projects.

Maharashtra NGO Samiti is a state-level NGO guidance centre. It is run and managed by the NGO "Maha NGO Development Association of India". Maharashtra NGO Samiti works with the objective of providing knowledge-based support/resources to viable and credible Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs). Maharashtra NGO Samiti is a team comprising of multidisciplinary professionals who build the capacity of activists, take initiative for appropriate policy changes and conduct field studies related to policy issues. It provides necessary guidance to NGOs, NPOs, POs, GOs, Funding Agencies, stakeholders, volunteers, social workers etc. It also helps in building an online presence of NGOs to empower, empower them and provide an opportunity to share/interact with other NGOs, people and society. This brings these NGOs to the attention of various funding agencies, gathers volunteers and supporters for them and creates an impact on local citizens by properly showcasing the work of NGOs.
